Glorified Projects: Misplaced Priorities – Rotimi Paseda

Following the much-awaited celebration of the 40th anniversary of Ogun State, a former gubernatorial candidate of Unity
Party of Nigeria (UPN), Otunba Olatunde Rotimi Paseda has described its rulership as “personalized governance”, just as he called Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as one of the best governors of the state since creation in 1976.
Paseda who spoke at the New year party organized by Imole group foundation, Ijebu-Itele, noted that the state had not been well governed because each administration that came in to power since the establishment
of the state had refused to build on existing projects of the previous administrations.
Paseda who attributed poor governance of the state in the past years to hatred and godfatherism among politicians and political
parties, promised to change the face of politics through what he termed ‘faceless
politics’ if elected as governor come 2019. His words: “I am going to change the face of politics in Ogun state and perhaps in
Nigeria, because I am going to practice a faceless, religion-less, greed-less and culture-less politics in the state.”
The business mogul cum politician however described the immediate past governor of the state, Otunba Daniel as one of the best
governor the state had produced.
He expressed displeasure over the projects of the incumbent Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, saying such projects were misplaced priority. “He came and started embarking on glorified projects that we don’t need. I believe it is just to show that the president is coming. You don’t embark on a project in order to steal or siphon money, but on project that will benefit the people”.
While speaking, the founder of Imole Group Foundation and a former deputy governor in
the state, Alh. Rafiu Ogunleye, commended Otunba Rotimi Paseda for his bold step in
alleviating poverty in the state through his foundation, Paseda Legacy Foundation.
Alh. Ogunleye therefore urged all politicians to imbibe the spirit of oneness and unity for
the betterment of the state.

  1. I wonder why a governorship aspirant will speak in this manner. Sir, I challenge you, will you have done better if you were to be in Amosun’s shoe now? Former President Obasanjo have said it all; “each Governor had built on the edifice he had met on ground in Ogun State”. I’m saying it to you that you are not different from Amosun and any other governor that ever governed in Ogun State ‘cos you can’t prove to me that the interest of the People is ur motive in politics. Selfishness and the goal to make more money is ur vision. Even the Abiola that u claimed as ur role model is never a saint. Politicians are one and the same. And u Paseda cannot prove otherwise.for now, Amosun is the best. Atleast, he’s taking our money in the best agreeable way. Thank u.

For now, Amosun is the best Governor ever. Atleast, he’s spending our money in the best agreeable way. Take it or leave it. Please l need your response on this assertion. Thank you.

  3. Let’s look at it from this perspective Sir (Mr Paseda), take dualization of roads as a case study, Assuming the dualization did not take place, do u think Ogun state will have this kind of developed look? Just imagine the kind of traffic challenges the good people of Ogun State will face by now? Though everyone has the right to his or her own opinion but still, we need to be appreciative (at least Arun oju ni kii se arun imu,is visible for all to see)…is funny sah, thank God u even acknowledged the projects as a “glorified” one whether the project is needed or not? The common man will give u a non-biased answer. OGD and the rest did their best in their time. But how beneficial is their administrations? I think a non partisan person will tell you Amosun’s is weightier than the rest altogether. I know this is a build up to 2019, I rest my case here, awaiting your welcoming response.
