Traffic regulations and management agencies in Ogun State have been enjoined to enforce relevant traffic rules and regulations to promote safe driving and engender a healthy society.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi gave the directive in response to the observation of Hon. Olakunle Oluomo who spoke under personal explanation on the need to check the excesses of commuters who throw refuse from their vehicles along Lagos/Abeokuta express way.
Adekunbi who decried the act, noted that such unsafe and unhealthy attitude could result into accident when such refuse is run into by unsuspecting vehicles on motion.
He also warned commercial drivers who cause gridlock on roads while allowing passengers alight in the middle of the road to desist from such unsafe and dangerous practice.
In the same vein, the speaker charged the traffic management agencies, the House Committee on Transport and the various transport unions in the State to embark on sensitisation of commuters and drivers on the need to shun acts inimical to safe motoring.
This followed the presentation of the Minority Leader and the Honourable representing Ijebu-Ode constituency Hon. Olawale Alausa under personal explanation on the recent accident that led to the death of a ‘’staff nurse’’ who was returning from work along-Folagbade – Ejirin road in Ijebu-Ode.
