FG boosts 50 Ogun schools

The Federal Government has donated sports equipment to over 50 public primary schools in Ogun State.

The equipment were presented to the state government by the National Lottery Trust Fund on Tuesday at the MKO Stadium, Abeokuta.

They included handball, basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, badminton and taekwando equipment.

The chief executive of the NLTF, Ahmed Gumel, who handed over the equipment to the Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga, who represented Governor Ibikunke Amosun, said they were purchased from funds realised from the national lottery.
He said Section 40(a) of the National Lottery Act 2005 empowers the body to use proceeds from all national lottery operations for good projects in the country.

Gumel said President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to the development of grassroots sports in the country, hence the Federal Government decided to equip public primary schools with sports equipment.

Amosun commended the Federal Government for the equipment, saying the items would help the state to discover more talents in the state.
